For those of you who don't know what this is let me briefly explain. What you do is carry with you a small notebook. Then you go up to people and say, "Hey I'm working on a project would you mind answering a few questions for me?" Most of the time people will say sure what have you got. Then you just simply ask them questions and write down there responses. This is a great way to share the gospel with people because you can continue to asking questions and steer the conversation wherever you want to go. I learned this from Mark Cahill's book titled, "One thing you can't do in Heaven". This book is a very practical how to book on evangelism. I would highly recommend everyone get a copy and read it.

There are three primary questions I use to get the conversation started:

1) What is the most important thing in your life right now?

2) Have you ever known a friend or relative who has passed away?

3) What do you think will be the most important thing on the day that you die?

These are just the questions I use frequently and there are a number of other similar questions that one can use to start conversations. Once I walk up to a group of two middle aged ladies with a teenager and asked the first question, "What is the most important thing in your life right now?" One of the ladies responded my daughter, who was standing next to her. Then the other lady answered and said, "Jehovah - We are Jehovah witnessing." I said REALLY! "I've got some questions?" So I just started to ask them questions about their beliefs. All it took was one question and we were into a spiritual conversation.

Another time I was in the Union Station mall at St. Louis during the MLB All-Star game week. I found an older man who was sitting by himself and went up and asked him the first question. He replied that his health was the most important thing in his life right now. He told me that he had a knee problem and could not walk around with all of his friends who were with him. This is why he was sitting by himself. I then asked him the second questions and he told me that his mother had just recently passed away. When I asked him the third question he told me that how he would die would be the most important because he did not want to suffer. I asked him if he believed in a heaven or hell. His reply was that he did not know but he did believe that there would be a judgment. I then told him that we were also asking the question, "How many of the Ten Commandments can you name?" He could not name any of them so I took him through a few. Then I told him that he was right that there would be a judgment and that God's moral law the Ten Commandments would be the standard. He seemed to be getting convicted so I asked him if he knew what the good news was. His reply was no so I explained Jesus, the Cross, Repentance, and Faith. When I finished I asked him if he had ever heard that message before and his reply was no. I thanked him for his time and gave him a tract to follow up our conversation. After I walked away, I looked back and his face was buried into the back of the tract reading it. You just never know how God can use a conversation like that for eternity.

The reason I like to use the survey approach is because you can get conversations started without using tracts. This can be very helpful when you are at places like a mall where tracts are not allowed. Another reason I like this approach is because by asking questions you develop more of a conversation and find out what the other person believes. This way you are listening to them and can respond with the truth that they need to hear. Below is one video example of me doing the survey approach.

Sharing the Gospel one-to-one using "The Survey Approach"

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

1 comment(s) 174 view(s)

This was a great opportunity to bring the Gospel to a group of people who desperately needed to hear it. I was joined by four others soul winners (Bruce, Cindy, Tim, & Steve). We began in prayer asking God to open hearts and convert people through the sharing of His Word. Steve and I preached several time from across the street. We worked our way down the line from beginning to end preaching. At the same time (Bruce, Cindy, & Tim) were going through the line of Korn fans handing out tracts and getting into conversations. Surprisely, many of the Korn fans we talked to claimed to be Christians while they stood there loaded with alcohol and wearing vulgar t-shirts. Overall we did have a few good conversations and many seeds were planted. The crowd soon grew and would wrap around both sides of the building and more. The team that was able to go out and share the true gospel of Jesus Christ included Greg, Kim, Bruce, Cindy, and Steve. We started out by handing tracts to the growing crowd, which seemed to go real well. Gods hand seemed to be over the place.

Greg and Steve next started with round one of open air, while Bruce and Cindy continued to hand out tracts and talk to the numbers of people that kept coming as the lines grew. Greg preached from the Sermon on the Mount. Some of Jesus most shocking words came at the end of this sermon when He said, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14 Greg told the crowd that you may wonder why we chose a crowd of people going to a contemporary Christian concert to preach to. Greg told them Jesus words are saying that there are more religious people going to hell than heaven. This is very shocking. These are the people who claim to know God, know the Bible, prophesy in his name, perform miracles, but on the last day the Lord will say to them to depart from me I never knew you. A lot of these people could be the very people in the very crowd that were preached to today.

This was Steve's first time to preach. He did a great job of conveying the true gospel and getting out the truth to the crowd. He read the Easter story from the scriptures. I think this may be just the beginning of his open air preaching. Steve did get to go to the concert with his family. He told Greg that the message presented inside was very shallow and weak. It did not include any sin, righteousness, or judgment. So if they did not get it on the inside they sure heard the true gospel on the outside. Greg and Steve then went around to the other side for open air number two while Bruce and Cindy continued to hand out tracks. During open air the second time we had a lady come up and hand us a letter she had written. It was very genuine and full of grace. It stated, "May the Lord surround all of you with his strength, power, and glory. May you all be embraced by his love, hope, peace, and rest. The Lord will never fail you. He has Chosen all of you for a hard race but he knows that you all will endure." This was the first time anything like this has happened before. She was definitely moved by the preaching and what was being said.

After the preaching we all blanketed the crowd with tracts. People were everywhere. They were even coming off busses in masses. Greg was even able to talk to a police officer and give her a tract. The Lord was truly working for all of this to be possible. In all we were able to hand out over 3,000 tracts. May Gods will be done in the seeds that were sown.

God Bless -
In his humble service,
Kim

Greg - Open Air Preaching Part 1

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

Greg - Open Air Preaching Part 2

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

Steve First Time Open Air Preaching - Part 3

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

2 comment(s) 236 view(s)

We were joined by a group of 15+ seed sowers for the Saint Patrick's parade located in Springfield, MO. Before the parade on the square we started off by handing out tracts and engaging people in one-to-one conversations. As we were walking around and talking to people, I noticed some money lying on the ground. At first I wondered if this was a money tract, but it looked pretty real. So I picked it up and it was a real ten dollar bill. My first thought was that I would give this money to charity. I thought there was a charity organization set up in one the corners of square but after investigating I decided not to give it to them. The early parade crowd was good sized so I decided to do some open air preaching. Once I made that decision, I realized why the Lord had provided the money. I used it as bait for the good person test.

Click here to view our event pictures.

Click here to view Brad St.Clair's blog with picture of this event.

Below is the video of the preaching.

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

Below is a video of our young evangelist "Molly"
handing out gospel tracts during the parade.

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

Our entire group handed out a combined total of over 6,000 gospel tracts
during the parade.
Operation Christmas Mass

Well, by the providence of God someone recently gave me a stack of Catholic gospel tracts from livingwaters. You know the one, with the Pope on the front that says “collectable”. At the time when I received them I thought to myself, ”How am I going to give all of these away?” The Lord knew what I would do with them. He put the idea into my head that I should plaster the cars parked outside of this big nearby Catholic Church during their Christmas Mass. So I recruited my 15 year old son to help me with “Operation Christmas Mass”.

Round 1
When we arrived at the Church the place was loaded with cars everywhere and they had filled up an extra parking lot across the street. I was not expecting the several security guards standing around “off-duty Deputies”. At the far parking lot across the street we decided to give it a try away. I figured at least we could get some of them on the cars before they figured out what we were doing and made us stop. It did not take long for one of them to come running over telling me to stop and asking what was I doing. I said that I was doing the Lords work and explained that I was putting gospel tracts on the cars. He told me I was breaking the law. I asked him what law specifically I had broken. He could not give me a good answer but said that I could hand them out to the people directly but just not put them on the cars. Just about that time the mass was over and many people started to exit the building. So my son and I stood on the public sidewalk and distributed many of tracts as the people were crossing the street.

Round 2
Later, on the way to my Grandparents house for Christmas Eve we stopped by another nearby Catholic Church. With perfect timing from the Lord the mass was just letting out as we pull into the parking lot. This time there was no security guards anywhere in sight. So I quickly went up to the front door and handed several of the tracts out as people were exiting. It was so easy to hand these tracts out. I simply said, “Did you get one of these? It’s a collectable - Merry Christmas!” One person looked and said, “It’s got the Pope on the front”. Little did they know that the back contained a strong biblical gospel message that started with the law. May the Lord use these tracts tonight to reach his people.

5 comment(s) 247 view(s)

The one mile parade route drew thousands to the downtown area. In all we had fourteen people whom the Lord raised up to sow seeds for the Gospel. We began early at the square were there was games and activities for the kids. We started off by getting into some one to one conversations. I had made a list of Christmas trivia questions that we used to draw a crowd as we gave out stuffed animals. I then shared the true meaning of Christmas to crowd that gathered. Later twelve of us walked the parade route and we distributed a combined total of over 9,000 tracts. God was good and many seeds were planted. Special thanks to my wife “Kim” who was by my side handing out many tracts and taking all of the pictures and video. The Lord has truly blessed me with a loving and supportive wife.
Below is a video of the preaching and pictures from the event.

Praise the LORD! I think this is the most tracts we have ever handed
out at one time. Later after the parade we were joined by two other team
members. As you will see from the pictures and videos the downtown square
was very thick with people. We did open air preaching at (3 of the 4)
corners of the town square. Thousands heard the Gospel!
(below are the videos and pictures)

Event Pictures

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

Open Air Preaching | Part 1 | Tim Mullins

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

Open Air Preaching | Part 2 | Greg Marlin

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

Open Air Preaching | Part 3 | Teresa Stevens

Embeded object removed from feed, please go to the full article to view the media.

2 comment(s) 262 view(s)
